Intimacy is also about conversation
A reflection on listening, boundaries and the space we build in relationships.

Intimacy can begin with a simple conversation: saying how you are, asking how the other person feels and making room for an answer that may differ from your own.
We do not need to guess.
In relationships, it is common to imagine that the other person should know what we want. Putting an expectation into words offers a chance to connect. Instead of assuming, try asking and listening carefully.
Talking about desires and boundaries does not need to be perfect. A pause, a question or a change of mind also belongs.
Listening means being present.
Listening includes letting the other person finish. It can help to confirm what you understood before responding. This does not require agreement: it makes the conversation clearer.
Your boundaries are part of you.
A “no”, “I don’t know yet” or “I want to think” deserves respect. Consent is specific, freely given and can change. No relationship requires you to abandon your comfort to prove affection.
